Plante Moran invites motivated students to join our public sector team as interns, gaining hands-on experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. You’ll support cities, schools, and libraries, performing reconciliations, year-end close, and audit prep while learning from seasoned professionals in a collaborative, growth-focused culture.

We value academic achievement and are open to candidates pursuing CPA or CIA licensure.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting; or Master's degree in accounting or tax.
• Academic success with GPA minimum of 3.0.

Responsibilities

• Providing financial staffing and related consulting support to public sector clients (cities, villages, libraries, K-12 school districts, etc…).
• Assisting our public clients with their accounting and finance functions including bank reconciliations, budget development, year-end close and audit preparation.
• Verifies, allocates, and posts client transactions to subsidiary accounts from documents.
• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts.
• Working independently or in teams to improve client accounting operations including drafting policies and procedures.
• Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and equity and prepares reports.
• Collaborating with other consultants and clients for continuous improvement recommendations.
• Training and development opportunities for professional, personal and technical growth.
