Plante Moran invites motivated interns to join our public sector practice from day one. You’ll be part of a team providing essential support to cities, schools and other organizations, helping with bank reconciliations, budget development, year-end close and audit prep.

This internship emphasizes growth, collaboration and real client work rather than busywork, with development opportunities, flexible time off, and exposure to a broad range of financial processes in an in-person culture.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting; or Master's degree in accounting or tax.
• Academic success (a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0).
• On track to CPA or CIA exam with the goal of licensure.

Responsibilities

• Providing financial staffing and related consulting support to public sector clients (cities, villages, libraries, K-12 school districts, etc.)
• Assisting our public clients with their accounting and finance functions including bank reconciliations, budget development, year-end close and audit prep
• Verifies, allocates, and posts client transactions to subsidiary accounts from documents
• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts
• Working independently or in teams to improve client accounting operations including drafting policies and procedures
• Analyzing financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and equity, and prepares balance sheets and reports
• Collaborating with other consultants and clients for continuous improvement recommendations
• Training and development opportunities for professional, personal and technical growth
