Plante Moran is seeking proactive accounting interns to support public sector clients such as cities, schools, and libraries. You will help with accounting tasks, budgeting, and audits to strengthen financial health.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting or a Master’s in accounting/tax.
• Academic success with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Preferred: on track to complete degree and CPA/CIA exam credits.

Responsibilities

• Providing financial staffing and related consulting support to public sector clients (cities, villages, libraries, K-12 districts).
• Assisting with accounting and finance functions: bank reconciliations, budget development, year-end close, audit prep.
• Verifies, allocates, and posts client transactions to subsidiary accounts from documents.
• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries for general ledger accounts.
• Working independently or in teams to improve client accounting operations and draft policies.
• Analyzes assets, liabilities, and equity and prepares balance sheet and income statements.
• Collaborating with consultants and clients for continuous improvement recommendations.
• Training and development opportunities for professional, personal, and technical growth.
