Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Public Safety Telecommunications Telecommunicator for the 7pm–7am third shift in the Command Center. You will monitor CCTV, access control, alarms, and radio communications while coordinating with Public Safety personnel.

Responsibilities include handling emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching resources, and maintaining incident records to support regulatory reporting and situational awareness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• APCO PST1 certification must be obtained within one year of appointment.
• Knowledge of security monitoring, dispatch operations, emergency communications, and incident response practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a common operating picture across Advocate Health facilities by monitoring and managing security, life safety, and communication systems.
• Receives, evaluates, prioritizes, and documents emergency and non-emergency calls, alarms, incidents, and service requests.
• Dispatches Public Safety personnel using established protocols and CAD systems.
• Communicates critical information to Public Safety personnel and stakeholders.
• Maintains records and databases to support situational awareness and reporting.
• Complies with center policies and participates in ongoing training.
