Job summary

The State of Alaska’s Division of Public Assistance seeks an Eligibility Technician 2 to determine eligibility for Medicaid, SNAP, Heating Assistance, Cash Assistance and more. You will interview applicants, review financial and personal information, and apply program rules to make accurate, timely decisions in line with policies and regulations.

For eligible applicants, you will initiate authorization of benefits and work across statewide offices using multiple computer interfaces.

Qualifications

• One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska.
• OR One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
• Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).
• Three professional references, one of which must be your current or most recent supervisor, are required.
• Transcripts (unofficial okay) may be used to support meeting minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants and review financial and personal information to determine program eligibility.
• Apply federal/state rules to determine eligibility and authorize benefits for eligible applicants.
• Maintain case records within mandatory timeframes across multiple interfaces.
• Communicate with clients effectively and document interactions in the system.
• Initiate authorization of benefits for services and supports for eligible individuals.
