Job summary

The Division of Public Assistance in Alaska is seeking an Eligibility Technician 2 to determine eligibility for Medicaid, SNAP, Heating Assistance, Cash Assistance, and more across statewide offices. You will interview applicants, review information, and apply rules to make timely, accurate decisions.

Qualifications

• One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska.
• One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
• Substitution: Post-secondary education in such fields may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants to determine eligibility and collect required information.
• Review financial and personal information and apply program rules to decide eligibility.
• Initiate authorization of benefits for eligible applicants and supports.
• Work across multiple computer interfaces to complete tasks and document decisions.
