Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a State Eligibility Consultant to ensure accuracy of benefits for DFR programs such as SNAP, Medicaid and TANF. You will process reviews, correct information, and authorize benefits, while providing feedback to improve accuracy review processes.

Salary starts at $37,648.00 and may adjust with education/experience. This role may travel and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of public assistance policy and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local rules for public assistance.
• Working knowledge of computerized eligibility systems.
• Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions.
• Empathy and tact in dealing with diverse clients.
• Discretion with client and coworker information.
• Effective interview and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• No degree required.

Responsibilities

• Review eligibility recommendations from contract staff.
• Make eligibility determinations for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid.
• Examine data matches for inconsistencies.
• Approve contractor-referred claims.
• Conduct full eligibility interviews.
• Stay current on rules and guidelines.
