Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a State Eligibility Consultant to review and process SNAP, Medicaid and TANF eligibility, ensure policy compliance, and correct case information. The role supports accurate benefit delivery and peer coaching to improve accuracy.

The position emphasizes adherence to federal and state rules, data integrity, and providing clear client communication. Travel may be required; a degree is not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Be able to travel with reasonable accommodation.
• Thorough knowledge of public assistance policy and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations for public assistance.
• Experience with computerized eligibility systems.
• Ability to identify problems and implement solutions.
• Demonstrates empathy and effective interview skills.

Responsibilities

• Review eligibility recommendations and information from contract staff.
• Determine eligibility for benefits and waivers per rules.
• Check data for inconsistencies and unreported data.
• Approve contractor-calculated claims.
• Conduct full eligibility interviews for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid.
• Stay current on changes to benefit programs.
