Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a State Eligibility Consultant to ensure accuracy and integrity of benefits for DFR programs, processing SNAP, Medicaid and TANF applications, changes and redeterminations. The SEC will update case information, authorize benefits, and contribute to peer coaching and reporting to improve accuracy.

The salary starts at $37,648.00 and may reflect education and experience. Compensation varies; view the Compensation Calculator for the total package and benefits.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of public assistance policy, practices, and procedures.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local rules and regulations for public assistance.
• Experience with computerized eligibility systems.
• Ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement solutions.
• Excellent interview and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel with reasonable accommodation.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• No degree required.

Responsibilities

• Review eligibility recommendations and information from contract staff.
• Determine eligibility for benefits and waivers per rules.
• Examine data matches for inconsistencies.
• Approve contractor-calculated claims.
• Conduct full eligibility interviews for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid.
• Stay current on changes to programs and guidelines.
