Job summary

Knowledge Services seeks an Eligibility Specialist in Hammond, Indiana, working with the DFR to process applications for TANF, SNAP and Medicaid. You will gather data, verify information, obtain records, and determine eligibility with state systems. The role starts with an extensive training program and a fixed 37.5-hour week.

The wage is $18.00 per hour, with paid time off, benefits and a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Knowledge Services is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Associate degree preferred; HS diploma or GED accepted.
• 2 years’ experience in a social service environment, state or local government preferred.
• Experience as Case Manager or Eligibility Specialist encouraged to apply.
• Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Gather data for all relevant assistance programs via face-to-face or phone with clients.
• Verify information meets state policies.
• Obtain release forms and medical records as needed.
• Verify income, assets, and other financial documents.
• Review regulations and program requirements with clients.
• Use automated program to determine eligibility for state assistance.
• Enter data into state database.
• Respond to inquiries via phone or email.
