Job summary

Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library is seeking a part-time Customer Service Substitute for the Downtown Main Library and branches. The role involves assisting with circulation, customer support, and technology help across locations, with shifts arranged in advance and on short notice.

Hours will vary from 0 to 29 per week. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and routine work at multiple branches with evening and weekend

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must agree to work at a minimum of five library branches.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move carts up to 150 pounds.
• Ability to work as-needed, emergencies included.

Responsibilities

• Circulates materials to customers, including check-in/out, holds, registrations, and fees.
• Shelves returned materials.
• Searches for requested materials.
• Assists customers with technology and job searches.
• Provides readers’ advisory and reference services.
• Directs customers to location leadership when appropriate.
• Supports the Library’s mission and diversity initiatives.
• Complies with workplace policies and procedures; performs other duties as assigned.
