Job summary

Stark County District Library is seeking a Substitute Library Clerk to support all 10 library locations on an as-needed basis. The role requires daytime, evening, and weekend availability and working at multiple locations.

The substitute will assist patrons with circulation, basic tech help, and library services, delivering friendly customer service and reliable coverage to keep operations smooth and responsive to the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience with customer service and library circulation systems preferred.
• Experience in public libraries or public-sector organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with circulation and basic tech help on the floor.
• Promote library services and help patrons use catalog and online tools.
• Perform basic searches in library catalogs and assist with reference tasks.
• Assist with shelving, materials pulls, and routine circulation tasks.
• Provide support to other staff and cover shifts as needed.
