Job summary

The Akron-Summit County Public Library is seeking a Substitute Public Service Assistant to support library operations across Summit County locations. This role is scheduled as needed to fill in for other staff absences.

You will help customers locate materials, use library technology, register borrowers, and perform routine circulation duties, opening/closing procedures, and various clerical tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework or an Associate’s degree.
• Knowledge of library materials, programs, and services.
• Ability to pass criminal background and education verification checks.
• Ability to use a computer and library systems.
• Flexibility to work as needed across Summit County locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in locating library materials and using library technology.
• Register borrowers and maintain circulation records.
• Perform opening and closing routines and clerical tasks.
• Collect charges for payment of lost materials as needed.
• Lift light objects and push library carts as required.
