Job summary

ABB is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to lead engineering activities for substation protection and control/automation systems. You will plan, coordinate, and execute designs while ensuring safety and standards compliance.

This full-remote role favors candidates in the Northern California area for potential collaboration. You’ll develop schematics, layouts, BOMs and calculations, manage materials, and support project teams throughout execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years of protection & control project experience.
• Ability to read and apply electrical one-lines and schematics.
• Proficient with Easy Power, SKM Powertools, ETAP, Aspen, EMTP.
• California PE license required.
• Authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute protection & control design for substation systems.
• Develop documentation and analyses: schematics, layouts, BOMs, reports.
• Manage materials, design packages, and issue resolution with teams.
• Ensure safety, standards compliance, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
