Job summary

ABB is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to act as the technical lead for engineering activities in assignments related to substation protection and automation systems. This full-remote position prefers candidates located in the Northern California area.

You will develop designs, analyze schematics and one-lines, manage project materials, and ensure safety, standards, and compliance. A California PE license and US work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in protection & control projects for utility customers.
• Ability to read, correctly interpret, and apply electrical one-lines, schematics, and instruction manuals.
• PE License in California required.
• Candidates must already have work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering design activities for protection & control/automation systems, including planning, coordination, and execution of new and retrofit designs.
• Develop engineering documentation and analyses—schematics, logic diagrams, layouts, BOMs, reports, and calculations.
• Manage project materials, construction design packages, and technical issue resolution with ongoing communication to project teams and customers.
• Ensure adherence to safety practices and standards while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
