Job summary

Sundt is hiring a Project Engineer II to serve as the technical source of information on the project, with thorough knowledge of construction documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders. You will respond to questions on drawings, specs, shop drawings, and change orders, and may assist with supervising Field Engineers.

This role requires experience on heavy civil/highway/structures projects and willingness to travel. Three progression steps (I, II, Senior) apply as experience grows.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc., and understanding the interdependence with other functions.
• Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent training with 3–4 years of similar experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to supervise/train Field Engineer positions if required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of the project management plan (PMP) components and change management process.
• Develops a procurement schedule and integrates with the project CPM schedule; procures material/equipment and coordinates submittals.
• Understands prime contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, and allowances; manages budgeting and cost control within approved budget.
• Maintains 'As-built' contract documents; coordinates close-out requirements including manuals and warranties.
• Participates in concrete form design and related equipment selection; takes offs for concrete, asphalt, earthwork, utilities.
• Plans, develops and supervises project team members to ensure relentless execution.
• Prepares and maintains quantity reporting and project meeting minutes/logs.
• Prepares/reviews change orders with relevant personnel before submittal; manages change order log and distribution.
• Prevents and mitigates potential claims and resolves impact promptly.
