Job summary

ASHFORD CONNEX, LLC in Tampa is seeking a Project Engineer with 5–8 years in civil construction to own the engineering and project controls on heavy civil highway and bridge work, including FDOT projects across Florida.

This role requires coordinating with PMs, preparing schedules in Primavera P6, tracking costs, managing subcontracts, and supporting monthly billing, with opportunities for a strong career track in a stable, well-backed contractor.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of experience in the civil construction field (office and field).
• Experience managing multiple activities on heavy civil work.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• FDOT project experience is a plus.
• HCSS HeavyJob experience is a plus.
• Based in the Tampa Bay area or ready to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Review the contract and specifications in their entirety
• Support the Project Manager and Project Superintendent on day to day project needs
• Prepare and update the project schedule in Primavera P6
• Track quantities, project costs and forecasting
• Get pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and crews to resolve field conflicts
• Support monthly billing, cash flow projections and change order processing
• Run document control for submittals, contract documents and record drawings
• Review HeavyJob daily reports for accuracy
• Keep NPDES permits, the SWPPP, inspections, survey staking and joint measurements with the owner on track
