Job summary

Not disclosed in company context is seeking a Project Engineer for heavy civil highway work based in Tampa, FL. You will own the engineering and project controls, coordinating with project managers and field teams to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery of FDOT-scale highway projects across Florida.

The role requires 5–8 years of civil construction experience, strong scheduling skills with Primavera P6, and fluency in coordinating with subcontractors, vendors and the design team.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in civil construction, office and field.
• Experience managing multiple activities at once on heavy civil work.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel and Word.
• FDOT project experience is a plus.
• HCSS HeavyJob experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review the contract and specifications in their entirety
• Support the Project Manager and Project Superintendent on day to day project needs
• Prepare and update the project schedule in Primavera P6
• Track quantities, project costs and forecasting
• Get pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and crews to resolve field conflicts
• Support monthly billing, cash flow projections and change order processing
• Run document control for submittals, contract documents and record drawings
• Review HeavyJob daily reports for accuracy
• Keep NPDES permits, the SWPPP, inspections, survey staking and joint measurements with the owner on track
