The organization provides business development and pursuit, estimating, safety, accounting, human resources, information technology, marketing, and training services to clients within the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) industry.

We are currently looking for a Project Controls Specialist to join our Analytics team located at our office in Granite City, IL or Nashville, TN. Our ideal candidate for a Project Controls Specialist is someone who has 3+ years of experience and is a collaborative problem solver with strong analytical skills, construction industry experience, and expertise in project controls systems and reporting. This individual will work closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction, accounting, subcontractors, and clients to provide accurate project performance insights and drive successful project outcomes.
Lead review of all project controls functions, including cost management, forecasting, scheduling, change management, risk management, and reporting.
Develop and maintain independent project cost budgets, forecasts, and performance measurement baselines.
Promote collaboration and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Lead monthly project review meetings and report to executive leadership along with Operations.
Establish and maintain project cost tracking systems and reporting processes.
Monitor project expenditures, commitments, cash flow, contingencies, and forecasted costs at completion.
Analyze project cost performance and identify variances, trends, risks, and corrective actions.
Validate the accuracy of cost reports, forecasts, and earned value metrics.
Coordinate with accounting and project management teams to support audits and financial reviews.
Prepare monthly financial reports and executive-level project performance summaries.
Develop and maintain baseline schedules, manpower projections, and spend forecasts
Coordinate with project teams to ensure schedule alignment with project objectives and cost forecasts.
Review project impacts related to scope, schedule, and cost changes.
Identify project risks and opportunities and facilitate mitigation planning.
Monitor risk exposure and communicate potential impacts to project leadership.
Prepare and distribute project controls reports, including Cost reports, Cash flow forecasts,
Document action items, recommendations, and mitigation strategies resulting from project reviews and meetings.
Assist with project startup activities, including estimate reviews, constructability reviews, and ERP system setup.
Support document control processes, including RFIs, submittals, change documentation, correspondence, and meeting records.
Conduct site visits and field audits to verify project performance data and reporting accuracy.
Support project closeout activities, including final cost reviews, commitment reconciliation, and contract closeout.
Required
3+ years of experience in construction project controls, project management, construction management, or related disciplines.
Excellent communication skills with comfort level reporting to executive level.
Experience managing self-perform commercial and industrial construction projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of:
Strong understanding of construction contracts, including Lump Sum, GMP, Cost Plus, and Construction Management delivery methods.
Working knowledge of project accounting principles.
Preferred
Earned Value Management (EVM) experience.
