Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct patient care using the nursing process on a stepdown unit. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to plan, implement, and evaluate care, and to coordinate patient teaching and discharge planning.

Responsibilities include continuous assessment, safe medication administration, advocacy, and participation in quality and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state they are working or compact license is required
• BSN preferred
• 1 year RN experience required; will accept new grads
• ACLS/NIH/CCRNs preferred where applicable

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment and plans care accordingly
• Administers medications safely per hospital policies
• Act as liaison for patient care coordination within departments
• Participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Provide patient and family education and support
• Manage care for patients with complex cardiothoracic or multisystem conditions
• Utilize AACN Synergy Model to guide patient care across lifespan
