Job summary

Luster seeks a Safety Manager to oversee safety governance across large heavy civil contracts in the New York area. You will enforce contractual safety requirements, review site-specific plans, and lead contractors’ safety performance on multiple concurrent projects.

You will mentor safety personnel, coordinate with regulators, and drive corrective actions to closure while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and program standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, safety engineering, construction management, or civil engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of construction safety experience for large >$500M, complex projects.
• Experience developing or reviewing site-specific safety plans and hazard analyses.
• Experience conducting field safety audits and inspections with stop-work accountability.
• Incident investigation and root cause analysis with corrective action follow-up.
• Leading, mentoring, or supervising field safety staff on active sites.
• Proficiency with OSHA rules and recordkeeping.
• Experience with safety software such as Enablon, Intelex, Procore.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead program-level safety governance across concurrent contracts and develop enterprise safety procedures.
• Review site safety plans and hazard analyses for conformance with OSHA and program rules.
• Audit contractor safety in the field and verify controls are in place.
• Drive corrective actions to closure and oversee incident investigations.
• Administer contract safety requirements including submittals and training tracking.
• Review high-hazard plans (excavation, falsework, lifts) before work proceeds.
• Coordinate safety planning across overlapping operations and preconstruction meetings.
• Analyze safety indicators and report trends to leadership.
• Coordinate with regulators during inspections and investigations.
