Job summary

Luster National is seeking Safety Managers to support large, complex heavy civil infrastructure programs across highways, bridges, transit, and airports. You’ll enforce contractual safety requirements, verify field controls, and maintain defensible records of safety performance.

Roles span governance to leadership across multiple contracts, with emphasis on compelling audit trails, incident investigations, and proactive safety improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety or civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of construction safety on large/heavy civil projects.
• Experience developing or reviewing site safety plans against contract requirements and regulations.
• Experience conducting field safety audits and stop-work actions.
• Incident investigation and root-cause analysis experience.
• Experience leading safety staff on active construction sites.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and recordkeeping.
• Experience with high-hazard activities and related safety controls.
• Familiarity with safety software (Enablon/Intelex/Procore).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead program-level safety governance across concurrent contracts and develop enterprise safety procedures.
• Review site-specific safety plans and activity hazard analyses for conformance with requirements.
• Audit contractor safety performance and verify controls in place at work face.
• Drive corrective action to closure and prevent repeat findings.
• Oversee incident investigations and root-cause analysis with effective corrective actions.
• Administer program safety requirements in contracts, including training tracking and OSHA reporting.
• Review high-hazard plans and approvals before work proceeds.
• Evaluate safety controls in active environments and during site operations.
• Mentor safety staff and maintain consistent program standards.
• Coordinate safety planning across overlapping contractor activities and sequences.
