Job summary

Luster National seeks experienced Safety Managers to support large, complex heavy civil programs including highways, bridges, transit, aviation, and water projects. You will enforce contract safety requirements, verify implemented controls in the field, and maintain defensible records of safety performance across multiple contracts.

Responsibilities include leading program safety governance, reviewing site safety plans, auditing contractor safety, and driving corrective actions to closure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, safety engineering, construction management, or civil engineering, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of construction safety experience on large, complex, heavy civil projects.
• Experience reviewing site safety plans and hazard analyses against contract and regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting field safety audits and ensuring corrective actions closure.
• Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis, including trend reporting.
• Experience leading safety staff on active construction sites.
• Familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and recordkeeping obligations.
• Experience with high-hazard activities and safety controls in live work zones.

Responsibilities

• May lead program-level safety governance across concurrent contracts and develop safety procedures and audit protocols.
• Review site safety plans and hazard analyses for conformance with requirements and close open items.
• Audit contractor safety performance in the field and verify controls are in place.
• Drive corrective actions through to closure and prevent repeats.
• Oversee incident investigations and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Coordinate safety planning across overlapping contractor operations and preconstruction meetings.
• Interact with regulators during inspections and follow-up commitments.
