Smithfield Foods in Missouri is offering a Production Manager Trainee role where you will learn all farm operations from Breeding to Nursery/Finishing, become certified in tasks, and grow toward leadership positions. The program requires adaptability to long hours and travel for training, with a strong emphasis on animal welfare and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field, or enrolled student with anticipated graduation.
• Able to work an average 48-hour week, including weekends and holidays.
• Willing to relocate for training and first managerial assignment.
• Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Learn and become certified in all farm department areas (Breeding/Farrowing, Nursery/Finishing).
• Understand pig production processes, animal flow, farm health, genetics, and husbandry.
• Perform hourly jobs under supervision and gain certification after demonstrated competence.
• Prepare reports on experiences and suggest opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with environmental laws and EMS policies.
• Progress in Leadership Certification and participate in Manager Training program.
• Report environmental, animal care, and biosecurity issues to supervisor.
• Act as HOD when needed and be on call for emergencies.
