Job summary

Smithfield is seeking a Production Manager Trainee to learn and certify in all farm department areas and pork industry standards. The role operates under supervision and includes leadership development through a certification program.

Participants may need to relocate to complete training and are expected to be on-call for emergencies. The position begins with hourly pay at $18.50/hour and offers comprehensive health insurance, retirement benefits, and an education benefit for eligible team

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field required or current student with anticipated graduation.
Must be able to work an average 48-hour week and be flexible for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software.

Responsibilities

Learns, demonstrates capability and becomes certified in all farm department areas.
Gains understanding of pig production processes, animal flow, farm health, genetics, and husbandry.
Performs and masters all hourly jobs under supervision.
Develops reports on experiences and shares opportunities for improvement.
Complies with environmental laws and EMS policies and procedures.
