Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Production Manager Trainee to learn and certify across all farm departments, including breeding, nursery and finishing, under leadership supervision. You will master pig production processes, health and welfare practices, and related company systems.

The role requires completing hourly tasks, preparing experience reports, and progressing through the Manager Training program with readiness to relocate and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related agricultural field, or currently enrolled with anticipated graduation.
• Willingness to work an average 48-hour week, including weekends/evenings/holidays.
• Willingness to relocate to complete training and assume first managerial assignment.
• Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software.
• Strong leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Learns, demonstrates capability and becomes certified in all farm department areas.
• Understands pig production processes, animal welfare, and farm health practices.
• Performs hourly jobs under supervision and gains certification in each.
• Develops reports on experiences and shares improvement opportunities.
• Complies with environmental laws, IPS, biosecurity and EMS policies.
• Progresses in Leadership Certification and managerial training.
• Be on call for emergencies and special assignments as needed.
• Reports issues affecting the Manager Training program to Human Resources.
