Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Production Manager Trainee to learn and become certified across farm department areas, gaining hands-on experience in pig production processes, animal care, and farm health. You will perform hourly tasks under supervision and progress toward leadership certification.

The role requires completing training, reporting on experiences, and complying with IPS, biosecurity, and environmental policies while relocating if needed and being on-call for emergencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related Agricultural field, or enrolled student with graduation by end of current semester.
• Able to work an average 48-hour week.
• Weekend, evening, and holiday work required.
• Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software.
• Ability to lead others and relocate to complete training and assume first managerial assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn, demonstrate knowledge and become certified in all farm department areas.
• Understand and implement pig production processes, animal flow, farm health, genetics, husbandry.
• Perform and master all hourly jobs under supervision and become certified in each.
• Develop and prepare required reports on experiences and improvements.
• Comply with environmental laws and IPS, biosecurity, animal welfare, EMS policies.
