Job summary

Smithfield Foods in North Carolina is offering a Production Manager Trainee 2 role with an hourly rate of $18.25. You will learn all aspects of farm operations, become certified in each job, and develop leadership skills under supervision to advance to a managerial assignment.

The program covers pig production processes, animal welfare, health, and EMS policies, with on-the-job training and environmental compliance. A relocation package is available and weekend/holidays work may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related Agricultural field.
• English proficient.
• Must be able to work an average 48 hour week, which can vary frequently.
• Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.
• Must shower in and out of farm facilities daily
• Ability to lead others
• Ability and willingness to relocate to complete training and assume first managerial assignment
• Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
• Must be supportive of the mission of raising swine for human consumption of high quality pork products.
• Must be able to tolerate and willing to learn and perform listed animal husbandry tasks.
• Must be able to operate a high pressure washing system.

Responsibilities

• Learns, demonstrates capability and becomes certified in all farm department areas.
• Understands company systems and processes relevant to pork production.
• Performs hourly jobs under supervision and earns certification.
• Develops and prepares reports on experiences and improvement opportunities.
• Reports environmental, animal care, and biosecurity issues to supervisor.
• Acting HOD duties as needed by management.
• Be on call for emergencies and staffing needs.
• Progresses through the Manager Training development program.
