Job summary

Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens, TN is seeking a PRN PBX Administrative Assistant to operate the hospital PBX/switchboard, assist with patient check‑in and registration, and provide flexible coverage across the Athens and Etowah campuses. This role supports the Patient Access team during fast‑paced shifts and complex scheduling needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in high‑volume or fast‑paced environments preferred.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Strong communication and telephone etiquette are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate PBX/switchboard, answer and route calls accurately and professionally.
• Page staff and communicate announcements per hospital procedures.
• Provide patient check‑in/registration support for services including Medical Records, MRI, echocardiograms and stress tests.
• Provide coverage for Emergency Department registration as needed.
• Support administrative functions and clerical tasks for the Financial Director.
• Learn PBX procedures and hospital paging protocols and operate related systems.
