Job summary

Starr Regional Medical Center is seeking a PRN Patient Access Representative to join our Athens, Tennessee team. You will greet patients, register them for services, verify insurance, collect payments, and refer to financial counseling as needed.

The role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple systems in a fast-paced environment. Shifts include weekends with flexible scheduling, and training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, creating a welcoming first impression.
• Register patients for outpatient and inpatient services accurately and timely.
• Collect and verify demographics, insurance and billing information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations when needed.
• Determine and collect patient payments at the time of service.
• Identify patients needing financial counseling and refer them accordingly.
• Explain forms and required documentation to patients and families.
• Communicate with clinical staff to support a smooth admissions process.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per policies and laws.
• Navigate multiple computer systems while ensuring accuracy and service quality.
• Provide coverage across shifts and registration areas as needed.
• Participate in training and performance improvement initiatives.
