Job summary

Stone Springs Hospital Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Switchboard PBX Operator PRN to promptly handle incoming calls, direct duties, and assist with hospital communications. The role includes handling alarms, visitor questions, and interdepartmental calls to support patient care.

Qualified candidates typically have 2–5 years in switchboard or customer service, may have medical terminology knowledge, and must work a rotating weekday night schedule including weekends.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years’ experience switchboard operator/customer service experience is preferred
• Medical terminology is a plus.
• Possess the ability to work weekday nights mixed with rotating weekend day shift 7a-7p.

Responsibilities

• Monitor fire panel alarms and phones where applicable, contacting the fire department and appropriate personnel when needed.
• You will answer hospital visitor questions and complaints, seeking guidance from Director of Security as appropriate.
• You will place and process long distance and Watts Line Calls for various departments and doctors' offices.
• Assist patient rooms by advising how to place local and long distance calls and assisting extensions in determining proper billing in getting outside lines.
• You will process, forward and deliver patient mail and flowers with assistance from volunteer staff.
