Job summary

HDR is seeking a Principal Project Manager to lead large, complex infrastructure programs within its Transportation Leadership team. You will advise clients on technical, regulatory, financial, and community facets and oversee direct execution across multiple disciplines, ensuring governance, risk management, and on-time delivery.

You will coordinate across teams, mentor staff, and contribute to HDR’s strategic growth while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Sciences, Planning, Business Administration or a closely related field.
• Professional certification/licensing: PE, PMP, PgMP, AICP, or CCM.
• Minimum 10 years of program management experience with at least 4 years as a Senior Program Manager and leading programs with capital value ≥ $500M.
• Experience with alternative delivery methods (DB, PDB, CMAR).
• Strong leadership, communication skills, and cross-location team management.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary infrastructure programs with high technical complexity.
• Advise clients on technical, regulatory, financial, and community aspects.
• Plan, direct, and monitor program execution across multiple disciplines.
• Identify risks and provide strategic problem-solving and decision-making support.
• Develop program management plans, startup plans, and work plans for efficiency and accountability.
• Direct services across large program teams or mega-projects.
• Promote alignment through regular communications and resource planning.
• Monitor performance and ensure QA/QC and financial targets.
