Elastic is seeking a Principal Technical Writer to lead the strategy and execution of onboarding and getting-started content. You will transform onboarding materials into a cohesive, narrative-driven experience that guides users to their first aha moment.

You will partner with the Self-Service team to bridge field, product, and documentation for trial-to-paid conversion and user success. Elastic emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and empowering writers to shape product documentation while

Qualifications

7+ years in technical writing or developer-focused roles, with onboarding experience.
Ability to design cohesive user journeys and onboarding narratives.
Experience leading initiatives across product, engineering, and sales/field teams.
Excellent storytelling for complex technical products.

Responsibilities

Drive onboarding content strategy and define a cohesive learning path from first visit to deployment.
Coordinate with Field, Product, and Docs to align roadmap changes and identify friction points.
Design user-focused onboarding flows with best practices and clear next steps.
Measure impact using user research, support data, and telemetry to reduce churn and accelerate time-to-value.
