Elastic is seeking a Principal Technical Writer to lead onboarding and 'Getting Started' content, transforming materials into a cohesive, narrative-driven experience that guides users from first setup to deployment. You will bridge Self-Service, product, and documentation to improve trial-to-paid conversion.

You'll define the narrative architecture of the user journey, ensuring touchpoints feel like a seamless story across onboarding and advanced feature adoption.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in technical writing or developer-focused roles with onboarding or user journey design.
• Cross-functional leadership across product, engineering, and sales/field organizations.
• Strong narrative and storytelling skills for complex technical products.
• Data-driven mindset using analytics, UXR, and support data to inform docs.

Responsibilities

• Drive the onboarding content strategy.
• Define and execute a cohesive narrative for how users learn to use our products and reach deployment.
• Align Field, Product, and Docs; serve as central contact for stakeholders; understand roadmap changes and friction points.
• Design user-focused onboarding flows with clear best practices, troubleshooting, and next steps.
• Measure and iterate using user research and telemetry to reduce churn and speed time-to-value.
