Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking Principal System Safety Engineers onsite to strengthen safety across the lifecycle. This role focuses on MIL-STD-882E program development, hazard analysis, risk assessment, and ensuring compliance for DoD programs with Secret clearance.

You will lead safety analyses, mentor engineers, manage budgets, and coordinate with government customers and internal teams to eliminate hazards and implement robust controls.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
• Experience briefing safety status to safety approval authority at technical reviews, to safety review boards and/or others as part of the safety approval process.
• Experience managing or owning a safety program.

Responsibilities

• Develop MIL-STD-882E system safety programs and analyses.
• Interpret requirements and standards to advise leadership on compliance strategies.
• Eliminate hazards across product teams and implement effective controls.
• Create and manage safety strategies and integrate tasks into the IMS.
• Oversee safety budgets and Earned Value Management (EVMS).
• Mentor early-career safety engineers.
• Lead System Safety Working Groups with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and ensure safety.
