Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a Principal System Safety Engineer onsite in Tucson, AZ. You will develop MIL-STD-882E safety programs, analyze hazards, and coordinate with government customers to ensure mission safety.

The role requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of experience, strong technical report writing, and the ability to brief safety statuses to safety approval authorities. DoD security clearance is required after day 1.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing MIL-STD-882E system safety programs and analyses.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
• Experience briefing safety status to safety approval authorities at technical reviews.

Responsibilities

• Develop MIL-STD-882E system safety programs, analyses, and verification tasks.
• Interpret requirements to recommend compliance strategies to leadership.
• Collaborate across IPTs to eliminate hazards and implement controls.
• Create and manage safety strategies and IMS integration; oversee budgets and EVM.
• Mentor early-career safety engineers.
• Lead System Safety Working Groups with government customers.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and ensure safety compliance.
