Job summary

enGen in Helena, MT is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to own end-to-end architecture across client experiences, API gateways, and backend services. You will drive scalable, enterprise-grade digital applications within a healthcare context and ensure secure handling of PHI.

You will define ADRs, lead vendor integrations, and align technology with business strategy while mentoring engineers and collaborating with security teams and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related field.
• 9+ years in design and analysis of algorithms, data structures, and scalable systems.
• Proficiency in Java and Python with experience in multiple languages and technologies.
• Experience with REST, HTTPS, JSON and web services.
• Knowledge of unit testing, code reviews, and modern software engineering practices.
• Healthcare domain experience and HIPAA/privacy awareness preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the resolution of technical and business problems ensuring scalability, performance, security, and robustness.
• Generate ideas and implement technical solutions to achieve product features while tracking milestones.
• Explore new technologies and architectural concepts for cutting-edge products.
• Participate in high-level development estimations to support roadmap execution.
• Present solutions to team members and management to drive technical outcomes.
• Mentor and lead other software engineers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
