Job summary

Concurrent Real-Time, part of HBK's Virtual Test Division, seeks a Principal Engineer to lead the Simulation Workbench (SimWB) team. You will own core subsystems, drive real-time scheduler and configuration server work, and guide architecture decisions for high‑performance I/O and FPGA integration in a Linux real-time environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development in Linux environments.
• Expert-level C and C++, with solid working knowledge of Java.
• Experience with real-time systems, including scheduling, determinism, and performance analysis.
• Hands-on experience with I/O boards and device-level software.
• Experience owning a significant subsystem end to end.
• Hands-on MATLAB/Simulink, including integrating models into real-time execution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve core SimWB subsystems, including real-time scheduler and configuration server.
• Design, implement, and debug I/O support for FPGA cards and protocols (EtherCAT, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, serial/Ethernet).
• Develop and maintain the SimWB SDK and API surfaces.
• Diagnose and resolve complex real-time issues related to timing and hardware/software integration.
• Provide top-level escalation support with Support and Applications Engineering.
• Produce and maintain design documentation to preserve critical product knowledge.
• Serve as technical lead; set standards, review designs, mentor engineers, raise technical bar.
• Partner with SimWB Manager on roadmap and architecture decisions.
• Evaluate new technologies and translate future product needs into engineering feasibility.
