Job summary

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) seeks an Associate Principal or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to spearhead our geotechnical practice across the firm. The role involves leading complex projects, mentoring staff, and delivering technically excellent client solutions.

Based in any WJE office across the continental United States, you will drive client development, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to industry practice through leadership and innovation.

Qualifications

• Licensed Geotechnical Engineer in relevant state(s).
• Master's degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience (25+ preferred) with demonstrated expertise across soil conditions, foundations, deep foundations, slope stability, and settlement.
• Dedicated self-starter with initiative to build a new consulting practice.
• Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Project management including client development, project scoping, assembling and managing project teams, maintaining schedules and budgets.
• Technical leadership applying codes and industry practices; SME for geotechnical projects; collaborating across WJE; overseeing work and hands-on field training.
• Mentorship locally and company-wide, formal and informal knowledge sharing on projects.
• Contribute to client attraction and engagement and participate in industry organizations and committees.
