Job summary

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) seeks an Associate Principal or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead and grow our geotechnical practice.

The role emphasizes problem solving beyond code, mentoring next-gen forensic geotechnical engineers, and contributing to forensic investigations and remediation projects. The position may be based at any WJE office in the continental United States, with responsibilities spanning project management, technical leadership, and client development

Qualifications

• Licensed Geotechnical Engineer in relevant state(s).
• Master's degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience (25+ preferred).
• Dedicated self-starter with a problem-solving approach.
• Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Project management, client development, scoping, team assembly, scheduling and budgeting.
• Provide technical leadership with deep understanding of codes and industry practices; act as SME for geotechnical work.
• Mentorship and knowledge sharing across the team and firm.
• Engage with clients and industry organizations; contribute to company-wide objectives.
