Job summary

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) is seeking an Associate Principal or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to expand and elevate our geotechnical practice across the firm.

You will lead project management, technical leadership, and mentorship, applying sound engineering judgment to forensics, foundations, and remediation projects, while developing client relationships and contributing to company-wide objectives.

Qualifications

• Licensed Geotechnical Engineer in relevant state(s).
• Master's degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience (25+ preferred).
• Dedicated self-starter with a principles-first problem-solving approach.
• Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Project management including client development, project scoping, assembling and managing project teams, maintaining schedules and budgets, and delivering client expectations.
• Technical leadership applying sound engineering judgment; collaborating across WJE as SME; contributing to forensics, foundations, and remediation projects.
• Mentorship locally and company-wide for staff development.
• Contribute to geotechnical practice and company-wide objectives and engage with professional organizations.
