Job summary

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) seeks an Associate Principal or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to expand and develop geotechnical engineering practice across the company.

The role requires deep technical leadership, years of experience, and a drive to mentor the next generation of forensic geotechnical engineers. This position may be based in any WJE office across the continental United States.

Qualifications

• Licensed Geotechnical Engineer in relevant state(s).
• Master's degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience (25+ preferred).
• Dedicated self-starter focused on building a new consulting practice.
• Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Project management, including client development, scoping, team assembly, schedules and budgets, and client deliverables.
• Technical leadership with strong engineering judgment and knowledge of codes, guidelines, and industry practices; collaborate across teams.
• Mentorship to support career development and knowledge sharing within WJE.
• Contribute to practice development and engage with clients and professional organizations.
