Job summary

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) is seeking an Associate Principal or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to help expand our geotechnical practice across the firm.

The role emphasizes leadership, client development, and technical excellence in forensic geotechnical work and foundations for diverse structures. The position supports project management, technical leadership, and mentorship across WJE offices in the continental United States, with a strong focus on building a new consulting

Qualifications

• Licensed Geotechnical Engineer in relevant state(s).
• Master's degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience (25+ preferred).
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Project management including client development, scoping, assembling and managing appropriate project teams, maintaining project schedules and budgets, and managing client expectations and deliverables.
• Technical leadership applying engineering judgment and deep understanding of governing codes, design guidelines, and industry practices; SME across WJE; lead various geotechnical projects; provide client deliverables and reviews.
• Mentorship and knowledge sharing locally and company-wide on projects, for technical topics and staff development.
• Contribute to practice growth and engage with clients, practice leaders, and industry organizations.
