Job summary

Boom Supersonic is seeking a principal electrical engineer to own the end-to-end electrical system of a 42 MW gas turbine powering AI data centers. You will oversee power distribution, protection, instrumentation, and controls interfaces across the engine, from architecture through hardware validation.

You will partner with propulsion, mechanical, controls, and test engineering to integrate the electrical system into a from-scratch platform, debug under real conditions, and guide other engineers

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to own electrical systems from architecture to validated hardware.
• Fluent in integrating power distribution, protection, instrumentation, and controls interfaces.
• Hands-on lab and test experience debugging with probes and test equipment.
• Comfort writing specs when none exist and making tradeoffs with incomplete information.
• Experience working across propulsion, mechanical, controls, and test teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical architecture for major portions of the engine, from concept to validated hardware.
• Design and build monitoring, protection, and sensing systems for operation under real conditions.
• Collaborate with propulsion, mechanical, controls, and test engineers to integrate electrical systems into the gas turbine platform.
• Manage vendor relationships for critical outsourced hardware components.
• Lead root-cause investigations when hardware deviates from the model in real-time testing.
• Set technical direction for other engineers working within your system.
