Job summary

Boom Supersonic in Englewood, Colorado seeks a principal electrical engineer to own the engine's electrical system end to end, from power distribution to controls interfaces and testing. Qualifications

• 3+ years designing electrical systems for power-dense, safety-critical hardware.
• Depth in at least two areas: power distribution, protection, instrumentation, high-power electronics, or controls hardware.
• Experience taking a system from blank page to tested hardware and owning issues.
• Ability to decide with incomplete information and act quickly when needed.
• Hands-on lab and test experience debugging with a probe.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical architecture for major portions of the engine, from concept to validated hardware.
• Design and build monitoring, protection, and sensing systems for operation under real conditions.
• Collaborate with propulsion, mechanical, controls, and test teams to integrate electrical systems into a scratch-built gas turbine.
• Manage vendor relationships for outsourced hardware.
• Lead root-cause investigations when hardware deviates from models during tests.
• Set technical direction for other engineers in the system.
