Job summary

Boom is seeking a principal electrical engineer to own the electrical architecture of a 42 MW gas turbine powering AI data centers. You will design, validate, and own power distribution, protection, instrumentation, and controls interfaces end to end in a single integrated system.

You’ll collaborate with propulsion, mechanical, controls, and test engineering to integrate electrical systems into a blank-paper turbine platform, and you’ll lead field validation and root-cause analysis with hands-on

Qualifications

7+ years designing and proving electrical systems for high‑performance hardware.
Depth in two or more areas: power distribution, protection, instrumentation, high‑power electronics, or controls.
Track record from blank page to tested hardware with ownership when issues arise.
Comfort making decisions with incomplete information and adapting quickly.
Hands‑on lab and test experience with probes and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

Own the electrical architecture for major portions of Boom’s turbine system, from concept to validated hardware.
Design and build systems that monitor, protect, and sense the engine under real operating conditions.
Collaborate with propulsion, mechanical, controls, and test engineering to integrate electrical systems into the gas turbine platform.
Effectively manage vendor relationships for outsourced hardware.
Lead root‑cause investigations when hardware behaves unexpectedly during tests.
Set technical direction for other engineers working within your system.
