Job summary

Boom Supersonic is seeking a principal electrical engineer to own the end-to-end electrical system of a 42 MW gas turbine powering AI data centers. You will oversee power distribution, protection, instrumentation, and controls interfaces for a system designed from scratch.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, rapid decision-making, and defining architecture with strong technical ownership. You will work across propulsion, mechanical, controls, and test teams to integrate the electrical system

Qualifications

• Owned electrical systems end to end from architecture through hardware bring-up.
• Deep experience across power distribution, protection, instrumentation, and controls interfaces.
• Hands-on lab and test experience with real-time debugging and hardware probes.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical architecture for major portions of Boom Supersonic, including power distribution, protection, instrumentation, and controls interfaces, from concept to validated hardware.
• Design and build systems that monitor, protect, and sense the engine under real operating conditions.
• Partner with propulsion, mechanical, controls, and test engineering to integrate electrical systems into a new gas turbine platform.
• Effectively manage vendor relationships for critical outsourced hardware components.
• Lead root-cause investigations when hardware does not behave as modeled in real tests.
• Set technical direction for other engineers working within your system.
