Job summary

GFT is seeking a Principal EHV Transmission Line Engineer focused on 765kV design to join our Power Business Group. This role reports to multiple offices but can be fully remote for the right candidate, with a base in several U.S. locations including Pittsburgh, PA.

You will lead transmission line projects, act as SME, and coordinate with clients and internal teams to align with project goals and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 15+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• Experience leading design efforts on 765kV projects.
• In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, AISC, ASCE 7/10/48 and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or similar software.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Prepare construction packages with structure details, material lists, staking tables, plans and profiles, and stringing charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, labor, and materials with realistic deadlines.
• Write and review specifications in line with industry standards.
