GFT is seeking a Principal EHV Transmission Line Engineer focused on 765kV design to join the Power Business Group. Role reports to multiple offices but can be fully remote for the right candidate, leading transmission line project designs and providing subject-matter expertise.

You will develop design criteria, prepare construction packages, and ensure compliance with NESC/IEEE/NEC. Travel to client sites and mentoring junior staff are core components of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering required.
• 15+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• Experience leading design efforts on 765kV projects.
• Subject matter expert in extra-high voltage (765kV) design.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, AISC, ASCE 7/10/48 and related codes.
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD and utility consulting experience.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• PE license preferred.

Responsabilités

• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or other software.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Prepare construction packages including structure details, materials, staking tables, plans and profiles, and stringing charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, labor, and materials, and set realistic deadlines.
• Write and review specifications in line with NESC, IEEE, NEC requirements.
• Conduct feasibility and routing studies and EMF calculations for planning.
• Oversee project implementation and verify foundations and installation.
• Lead or assist with proposals and business development.
• Travel to client sites for definitions and execution phases.
• Mentor and coach engineers and technicians.
