Job summary

SCA Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PreOp PACU role in our Maryland Pasadena facility. The RN will assess preoperative and postoperative status, manage recovery from anesthesia, and collaborate with the care team to ensure high-quality perioperative care.

The ideal candidate holds an accredited nursing degree with RN licensure, at least one year of PreOp or PACU experience, and current BLS/BCLS/ACLS (PALS if pediatric care is included).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical / surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standings. Successful completion of BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of ACLS course within 90 days of employment.
• PALS course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility policies and procedures.
• Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
• Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
• Describe physiology associated with anesthesia techniques and surgical interventions.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement the plan of care including recovery from anesthesia across various modalities.
• Protect patient from injury and ensure safe monitoring and documentation.
• Provide hand-off reports to teammates with concise, pertinent information.
• Delegate tasks according to applicable regulations and job descriptions.
• Document nursing care completely and accurately.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and participate in quality improvement.
